Privacy Policy
Isha is a browser extension that turns a YouTube video's transcript into a conversation with your own AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini). This policy explains exactly what Isha does and does not do with your data. It is written to be honest and specific, not boilerplate.
The short version
- We do not collect, store, or sell your video transcripts or what you watch.
- Transcripts are read in your browser and sent to the AI assistant you choose, in your own tab.
- The only data on our servers is the minimum needed to run your account and your Pro subscription: your email and your plan status.
- Payments are handled by Razorpay. We never see or store your card details.
What Isha does NOT collect
- Your transcripts / video content. When you summarise a video, Isha reads the transcript on the YouTube page and passes it directly to your chosen AI assistant's tab. It is never sent to or stored on Isha's servers.
- Your browsing history. Isha only runs on YouTube watch pages and on your AI assistant's tab.
- Your card details. Payment is processed entirely by Razorpay.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking. Isha contains no ad SDKs and does not track you across sites.
What Isha does collect (the minimum to run accounts + Pro)
Stored in our backend (Supabase), tied to your account:
- Email address — to sign you in and to identify your account for Pro.
- Subscription status — whether you're on Pro and until when.
- Daily usage count — a per-day counter used to enforce the Free plan's 5-per-day limit. It is a count, not a record of which videos you watched.
Stored only on your device (browser storage), never uploaded:
- Your settings — preferred AI assistant, language, and similar preferences.
- Your recent-videos list — a local convenience history of videos you summarised. It stays on your device and you can clear it any time from the extension settings.
Who we share data with (sub-processors)
- Your chosen AI assistant — OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), or Google (Gemini). When you send a transcript, it goes to the provider you selected, under your account and their privacy policy.
- Supabase — authentication and the minimal account record above.
- Razorpay — payment processing (Pro upgrades). Card data is handled by Razorpay, not us.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Why Isha asks for each permission
- YouTube access — to read the transcript of the video you're watching.
- ChatGPT / Gemini / Claude access — to paste the transcript and your prompt into your AI tab and submit it for you.
- Storage — to save your settings and the daily usage count.
- Tabs / scripting / activeTab — to find or open your AI assistant's tab and deliver the transcript when you click.
- Identity — to let you sign in with Google (optional; email/password also works).
Data retention and deletion
Your account record persists while your account is active. To delete your account and the data above, email lallmanish90@gmail.com and we will remove it. Local settings and history are deleted when you remove the extension or clear them in settings.
Children
Isha is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the extension.
